Kindergardening is great!

So I got a job at a kindergaden. And it's great! The people working there are great fun. I got 60% at the big kids and 40% at the toddlers :)

I got to admit that the "big" kids are more fun, because I can level more to their imaginary level and play-level. I can do make-believe games that they can relate to and make cardboard toys that make their eyes grow wide! And that makes a lot of difference.

And now I get a reasonable amount of exercise walking to work, or if it's a really good day, I use my skateboard. Now it's snowing and I wonder how to get to work without getting wet and/or taking too long and get sweaty and tired. And it goes without saying that I don't use the car or the bus. I really hate taking the bus, and work is really too close anyway.

I except that a solution will present itself.

Most excellent trip!

Me and Linda came to Selje to visit her parents at their Country-house. Her sister with husband and kid was also there. My borther-in-law, Pål, and I went hiking to Tarvaldsegga, a mountain-top just east of Selje. We went there by Risnakken and Orren. Excellent trip. We used 3 hours and 21 minutes. The trip was 8,45 km as the crow flies. The top is 645 m high. Here is the 360 degree top view:

Kill Ole Wallpaper

So I made a doodle. Kinda. Digital doodle anyway. Based upon one of the best cartoon-series I know: "M" by Mads Eriksen. This picture is in turn based upon the well-known movie Kill Bill. I made My very own version. Took my lovely wife's head and edited in Gimp. Here is the result:

I miss Linda!

I miss her!

My lovely wifi (^,^ ) is off in Oslo for some banking-seminar-thingy.
And the bed is big and cold. I miss her...

Happily, she's home again tomorrow! YAY!

It huuuuurts!

Yes it does! My jaw is hurting a lot!

I was on a waiting list at the dentist-specialist (because my regular dentist is a friend of mine, and wanted to stay that way), and they called me up by surprise and said they have an available spot for me. NOW! Oh Lord how that made me shiver me timbers!

So I grabbed a couple of slices of bread, (because I know I can't eat for AGES after) and ran for it. They called me because I live in the vicinity for the clinic, and could be able to get there quick.

Oh yeah, forgot to tell you; I wag going to remove one of my wisdom-teeth in my lower jaw.

The tooth is out alright! It had 3 roots. There was some inflammation behind it too. ...they scraped it out... And it feels like the dentist have sewn my cheek to my gum!!! I really wonder how this is going to look when I can gape again!

Oh well. The other one goes in November. My oh my... Can't wait!

What an eventfull summer!

This summer has really been eventful! Lista Scout Jamboree was a complete success. I was promoted to ambassador to my area because the original ambassador was unable to make it due to death in the family(i think).

Well, I don't know why they chose to ask me. Maybe I was the final resort, but I think I did well. I got positive feedback anyway. Yay!

My small scoutgroup got a lot of attention. The four of us made it into 3 newspapers: the jamboree-paper, the local newspaper at Lista and Vårt Land, a nation wide newspaper.

The cause of this: out windmill. So it pays to plan and execute properly. And we bathe in fame! We love to know that everyone there knew who we were.

Then I got married! I know, ME, who knew??? It was great! A little bit anxious in the church though. Kept fiddling with my cufflinks.

The photo-shoot was like all photo-sessions, kinda dull, painful and exciting. BIG thanx to Eli-Karin who took great shots of us! Can't wait to get them!

As well as anything, the party was great too! As we were really excited and kinda "distant" as we plowed trough it. The time went really fast and the party was over far too soon! But it was excellent!!! Really! So great to see everyone that came to have fun with us. We really had too little time to talk with everyone, and some might have been harder to sit down with and strike up a conversation since we had not seen them in so long. (This being my fault btw.)

Newly wed and happy we went on our first honeymoon! Längsjö Camping seems to be our spot for camping. Nice location and great service! They even got us a cake! Cool. It had a marzipan mouse on it - AND it was blue! Tasted great too.

Home again we worked for a week before embarking on our second honeymoon to Fuengirola, Spain. Our friends Ove and Eli-Karin was to be married there, and without further ado they were. Linda was best woman to Eli-Karin and made everyone laugh and cry with her touching speech. The local resturant food was crap, but we had a great time there anyway. Some great partying (thanx to Putte and Lisbeth, shhhh....!)

I tried out belly surfing. I got some beating from the waves and I bet there is some water missing in the Mediterranean sea. It was great fun though!

I bought myself a new scateboard too, an Element board. The old-school kind, with soft wheels and don't have a usable nose. (Like the one used in "Gleaming the Cube" aka "Skate or Die".) I actually use it as transportation to work some days. It's really a smooth ride. And not so noisy as "modern" boards with hard wheels. It is great exercise too! Real fun!

As we came home, we found my sister, Ingvild, over-pregnant. 10 days later she gave birth to Leon Moss. I'm an UNCLE! Wow! Well, I was bafore too, but trough Linda by the wedding. I am soooo proud and happy!

As for my future prospects, I am taking (at least) a year pause from school. I plan to work as much as I can, or get a fulltime job. The right job might make me take a longer pause than a year, but I AM GOING TO FINNISH SCHOOL - if anyone wonders. I'm just a bit sick of math at the moment.

I also have a long-term plan to persuade Linda into purchasing more tec-items like graphic processors. Wonder how to?...

Major sparetimequelch, game making, oh brother!

This is me not doing any school for the time being :)
Happy times you might say. It is, REALLY!!

Suddenly I have a lot of spare time on my hands. AND it's raining. Add it up, and it makes for Computer-time.

So I have undertaken a couple of impossible tasks:

1. I am trying to make a remake of the classic DOS-game "Jones in the Fast lane". A simple career game. Probably the predecessor of Sims. The master plan is to make a 3D landscape in Blender, and use the Blender game engine to remake the game. I am well on my way of making the two first tiles of the map. (it has 10) I call the game "Tux in the Fast lane".

2. I had a crazy idea to remake Ducktales. It kept my mind racing and made me stay up late (in bed) to plan how to all in my head. The plan is the same, although I plan to make the animation in 3D, the gameplay will be in 2D sidescrolling, or up or down or whatever. I'm probably going to have the most trouble with the "Launchpad McQuack-flying" part of the game. Or maybe that will be the easiest. I don't know - Because I have to LEARN everything!!!
Game-name: TuxTales.

3. Another game-making idea. (This will have to wait till I'm well on my way with 1. or 2. And I really have forgotten what it was! LORDY!!!! Oh well, it'll come back to me soon. O! OOO! Oh!!! I got it. It's a rather complex task of remaking a simpler and heavily modified version of "Buzz Aldrin's Race into Space".

All made in Blender game engine, all plesant futile tasks. Wish me luck!

The event horizon day is 12. May...

Exams, finals, whatever...

This is the deciding day of what I might do in the autumn (maybe even this summer?) It's like this:

1. I pass the test ( I will not diminish and go into the west and remain Galadriel :D )

2. I get a 2nd. test to pass in august/ early september. I pass it and get to take my final year. I will need to take another test that will make me math free for life! I will still need to pass all exams for final year as well.

1.1 I fail the first test. I can't take the 2nd. stest. I get to start looking for a job.

2.1 I fail the 2nd. test. I get to start looking for a Job.

Soooo: No pressure at all!!!!! Just do the best I can and follow the flow.

Linda, the love of my life, is a great help! Thank you! I love you!

Alligator Gar! Cooool! :D

I take a moment pause from studying to bring you this treat:

An Alligator Gar!

Take a moment to reflect the similarities with it's name brother. This is a freshwater fish that grow to over 200lb's and 10 feet!

It's a FISH!

It made it into my consciousness via the Discovery Channel last night.

How I love gigantism!

Ahhh... New sound-system for my Ubuntu Desktop.

And this is an excellent sound-system too. And fairly cheap as well. 399,- NOK at Elkjøp. Initially I was going to buy the Creative T3130. That decision was changed AT THE STORE, due to a possibility to save 100,- and come home with a newer and better model - the Creative T3200.

So now I can get the really good experience from games and music like I need.

It's a 2.1 sound-system. It enhances mp3's really well. It's spacefirendly, but have some wire-issues due to a MECHANICAL (WOW!) volume-button :D It also comes with a standard 3.5mm standard mini-jack. This I can connect to my n900 and play off sound directly. Cool? YES!

I realize I get extra happy when I spend money well. This is vital for my money-spending. After a couple of "bad ideas" I get into non-consuming-mode. Having spent my hard-earned cash on stupidity is a real pain in the bum :)

Now we are closing in on the RSVP from our wedding-invitations. Most have accepted, a few are unable to make it, and some are unresponsive - for now. We gladly accept your answer, how ever it may be. Though we hope you all can make it! :)

Tux aquired. I'm good looki'n!!! :D

The wedding tuxedo is ready. That is; it's ordered. Slightly shorter pants and smaller jacket. It made me even more ready to work out and get a slightly smaller tummy :) (my six-pack promise)

I really can't wait for the wedding-day. The party will be a magnificent occation for everyone.

And then Linda will be mine... FOREVER! MMMOOAAAHAHAHAHA!!!! :D <3 <3 <3

Guild Wars Nightfall

I have ventured out in the comercial world of MMORPG (or MMMUUUGHHHRRPPPOOOORRGGG, as I like to call it :) )

This is because I stumbled into a gamers shop about a month ago. Just to kill time and look around. They had a "by 2 games, get 3" sale. Anyways, that resulted in me leaving the store with:

- the complete Heroes of Might and Magic V set (Orginal, Hammers of Fate expansion and Tribes of the East expansion)

- the complete Warhammer 40,000 (Orginal plus 2 expansions)

- Guild Wars Nightfall Special Edition (Huge box with maps, artwork, making of CD and music of Guild Wars CD)

all for 200,- NOK. That's a good buy people! A bargin eaven :)

Change is coming! Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 LTS

Change is coming. Quite significant changes I think. I have tried the beta version for some time and there are a few points worth a closer look :)

It's sooo much faster in boot. Yay!
It's got new features in the "social network genre".

And so on. I had a problem updating on my laptop with the beta version, so I'm just waiting the last 19 agonizing days to see the final result!!!

The semi active nerd :)

As time races towards summer, exams and wedding, I have boldly promised my fiancee a six-pack. And not the beer-kind. So I try jogging and a hobby-gym-membership. And all the outdoor activity i log with my Nokia n900. I use the eCoach program witch logg speed, distance, hight difference and heartrate (if i connect a heartrate sensor, wich I don't have).

I also type in my age, hight and current weight, merly to find that the BMI tells me that I'm slightly overweight and kinda lazy... :D

As of today I have bought the tools and "plumbing" needed for installing the Wood fireplace. Tomorrow the chimney will shake in fear!

I'm also to buy some mouldings for the roof in the kitchen and livingroom.

It might be a noisy affair :D I have notefied the upstairs neighbours so that they may take the baby and flee...

Also I have discovered a new band: The Baseballs. Their album, Strike, is great!
They take todays hits and make them 50's like. --

Testing the n900 to the max

Well, to the limit of my knowledge.

It is still a remarkable phone. Or rather a small and handy PC. Every day i dicover something new.

The latest is a pedometer that measures steps via the acelerometer. And also this blogging application. So from now on, most small and rather "facebook-like" updates may come from my trustworthy nokia n900 :)

The last of the "my family meeting hers coffee-meetings" is complete :)

Sunday was a fine day. Except for more snow. We had invited my dad and Anne (his wife and my semi step-mom) to dinner and coffee. Somewhere along the way we decided to invite Linda's parents to coffee too, so that the last of the parents could meet and greet.

The dinner went rather well, a simple spaghetti meal, well appreciated.

It was also the test of our new diningtable in the livingroom. It withered the storm perfectly.

Some time later we had unexpected visitors. Synnøve and Knut, who never manages to get around to visit us when we are actually at home, came ringing the doorbell. They got the quick tour while dad and Anne patiently relaxed in the couch. Of course that's when Linda's parents also showed up :) There was some 5 minutes of utter chaos before the introducing and greeting and good-bye-ing had been managed.

We had a wonderful coffee chat and everyone got on really well. We hope :)

The wedding might be a really good time for anyone. Let's make it a great party!

My sisters birthday:)

We had a great time at my sisters birthday-partey last weekend. She made her famous homemade pizza. She's now 26. A respectable age for any girl/woman :D
(Hohoho, I made a funny :D )

We were 7 people there, overeating on the pizza, so I bet she has still got 4 cakes left in her refrigerator! If she's not ate them yet...

She's the greatest sister anyone could ever ask for. (I didn't, and still got her)

Nokia n900! Lord how great it is!

I bought a new phone (cell/mobile/tablet whatever :p ).The BRAND NEW! Nokia n900. This is one of the first times that I find that money is well spent on new technology, at least when it is brand new. AND IT IS SOOO GREAT! It is costumizable beyond anything because it runs the Maemo 5 OS. Wich is based on Ubuntu 8.04 (or 8.10 ?).

You have NEVER seen multitasking like this on a phone!

With a great screen and great sound you can wach full movies on it. Although you might need a BIG microSD card. The phone has about 30 GB of storingspace built in, but i'm choosing to leave that alone for now. I have a 4 GB microSD on it. I have some audiobooks and music on it.

The camera is 5 megapixels and takes great pic's and the led flash is great.

The slide qwerty keyboard is great! It actually elliminates the danger of using you cell to write sms in your car :p otherwise it is great for the use of internett. Hook it up with your wifi at home, and it is faster than most small laptops like acer one and sutch.

It is imensly powerfull, i have seen quake 3 been played on it!!! and you can cable connect it to you tv! New software is pouring in as you read this. Games and apps and scrennlets and desklets. If you really want EVERYTING, there is a Debian installer, witch makes you install any Debian programs from the Linux communty. This is great if you are a little "white and nerdy" like me, but i need a bigger microSD card before i venture into that land of nerdyness :D

This is the best ting that has happened to the geeks of the world since internett.

I thought about getting an android, but I think this is miles better! everything is FREE!!!!

Back online!

Here I am again. As online as ever :)
As we have moved and it does take some time to make Mimer set up the connection, the blogging has unfortunately had a standstill. In the very unlikely event that I might remember things that have happened the last month or so whit any accuracy at all, I will not try to tell you what has happened, and rather concentrate on the present and future.

We have just come home from a little trip to Trondheim. It was set as a mini vecation and a shopping-spree at IKEA. (It is amazing how much you can cram into a VW Polo.)

A couple of bottles of wine and a romantic dinner escalated to a rather moist night at random pub's in the immediate vicinity of our hotel.
This again resulted in a rather puzzled and pretty hung over IKEA trip. I hope we learned something that day:)

It was a really romantic trip for us, and Linda seems to have had a blast.

We also met up with Elise, who is rather happy with being "my half" of the Toastmaster-team we are setting up for our wedding. The other part is Lindas friend Hanne.

Maria Kristine and her husband Sivert made a lifesaver Lunch for us as we visited them just after the IKEA trip. As we nearly just ate and ran, we are happy to report of a great apartment, a happy dog, their gorgeous daughter Martha chewing the same piece of bread over and over til it is all wet and mush and she throws it on the floor. Classic family happyness:)

The 6 hours of drive is reeking havoc with my behind and I'm rather tired and soon to be crosseyed. I better go to bed. I hope to do regular updates on my blog from now on. This is my special service to the couple of people that might actually read this. And thank you for doing so:)

Later.
